Cordless Battery Compatibility Checker
Updated: June 18, 2026 | Author: Garage Almanac
The Garage Almanac compatibility checker is a free tool that answers one question in a click: does a given cordless-tool battery fit a given tool, and if not, is there a cross-brand adapter that bridges them? It reads the same cited dataset that powers the rest of the site, covering 26 battery platforms and 21 directional cross-brand adapter records, so every verdict traces back to a manufacturer page or a live product listing.
How to read the result#
- ✔ Direct fit: the battery and tool are on the same platform, so the pack drops straight in.
- ▲ Works with an adapter: a third-party adapter bridges the two brands. These are tool-use only. You cannot charge a battery through an adapter, no manufacturer endorses them, and they are not for high-draw tools where current can overheat the contacts.
- △ Same brand, different platform: some same-brand platforms interchange (FlexVolt packs run in 20V MAX tools, for example) and some do not. The platform page has the specific answer.
- ✘ No fit, no known adapter: the pair is not compatible and no cross-brand adapter exists in our dataset.
A wrong “yes” can damage a tool or a battery, so the checker only reports adapters that have a real product behind them. For the full picture, browse the cross-brand compatibility data, the battery platform hubs, or the adapter guides.
